As you are likely aware, from 2015 the Government introduced SuperStream initiatives to implement standard requirements for all employers when sending superannuation contributions on behalf of employees.
In order to streamline our communications with you (and to avoid sending you regular identical requests for information), we wanted to take this opportunity to provide all of our employers with a reminder of your obligations for providing mandatory member information when making contributions.
Under SuperStream, employers are required to provide the following mandatory information relating to employees with each contribution received:
• Full name
• Residential address
• Tax file number
• Contact phone number.
Where we don’t receive this information from you, we will assume that you do not have the information, rather than sending you reminders to provide it.
What if I don’t have the required information?
You are not required to provide the employee information noted above if your employee has not given the information to you, provided you have made reasonable efforts to obtain the information from the employee.
How can I find out more about my obligations?
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has a large range of information about employer superannuation obligations on their website, including video and step-by-step guides on how to make SuperStream-compliant super contributions, at https://www.ato.gov.au/super/superstream/employers/
