Appointment of an independent director to the Board of Local Government Super
Local Government Super (LGS) is your industry super fund. We are proudly not for profit and passionately put our members first in everything that we do.
The environment in which LGS operates is evolving rapidly and as Chair of the LGS Board, I’m taking this opportunity to advise you of an important change we’re making to further strengthen the way we manage your fund to help protect and grow your retirement savings.
Shortly, we will be advertising for a well-qualified, experienced and capable person to join the LGS Board as an independent director. This new appointment will bring an external perspective to the governance of the fund and will help to ensure that the Board can draw on an even wider range of experience and expertise to help us meet the challenges of the future.
The Board is responsible for setting the overall strategy and ensuring LGS is operating in the best interests of members in accordance with the Trust Deed and Superannuation laws and this new appointment will play a key role in achieving our strategic goal of growing funds under management from $11.5 billion to $15 billion by 2021; crucial if we’re to continue to deliver competitive fees, long-term sustainable returns and a broad range of investment options.
I will let you know more once we have made the appointment.
