Retirement Scheme – Correcting contribution types; Concessional to Non-concessional and vice versa

If you have incorrectly reported a contribution for a member and need to correct the contribution type from Concessional to Non-Concessional (or vice versa), it’s important that you correct this in the same financial year the contribution was originally made.

Contributions for members turning 70

Under superannuation law, employers cannot make certain contributions, such as Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions, on behalf of employees who have turned 70. However, we can still accept award contributions and certain other contribution types.

As Retirement Scheme members do not receive SG contributions in the same way most other members do, we calculate a Notional Taxed Contribution (NTC) which is used by the ATO to work out whether a member has exceeded their Concessional contribution cap.
