Retirement and TTR calculator:

This tool projects retirement savings and income into retirement.

It allows you to examine the effects on your retirement income of:

  • investment strategies (before and after retirement)
  • contribution strategies
  • career breaks
  • retirement dates
  • draw-down levels
  • the Age Pension
  • transition to retirement (TTR) strategies.

It also enables you to assess how long your retirement income may last.

Super contributions calculator

Depending on how much you earn, salary sacrifice contributions could be a tax effective way to boost your retirement savings.

Another way to boost your superannuation is to make after-tax contributions, which in turn could make you eligible for the federal government’s Co-contribution (this is primarily a benefit for low income earners).

This tool enables you to determine optimum contribution strategies by taking both of the above methods of boosting retirement income into consideration.

In particular the tool:

  • demonstrates the effect of salary sacrifice on both take-home pay and retirement savings
  • assesses eligibility for co-contributions
  • estimates the amount of co-contribution based on your earnings and contributions
  • estimates the maximum co-contribution you may be eligible for
  • determines the minimum contribution required to receive the maximum co-contribution entitlement.

Budget calculator

This tool enables you to input your level of household income and expenditure using the most appropriate frequency for each type (e.g. monthly, quarterly, annually), and determines your overall level of surplus or shortfall.

This tool can then also be used to assess whether you are able to afford additional superannuation contributions.

Superannuation insurance needs calculator

This tool enables you to assess how much death, total and permanent disability (TPD) and salary continuance insurance you may need. It compares this need to cover currently held and identifies any insurance cover shortfall. The tool then provides a link to our insurance calculator which provides an estimate of the cost of taking out sufficient extra insurance to meet any shortfall identified.

Insurance requirements include covering the following:

  • expenses incurred at the time of death or TPD claims
  • repayment of outstanding debts
  • future income replacement (including covering the cost of future superannuation contributions).

Risk profiler

This tool can assist you to assess your investment risk tolerances and preferences based on answers you provide to a short questionnaire. It then suggests an investment option which may be suitable based on your assessed risk preferences. It also provides further information about the Local Government Super investment options currently available.

Death and TPD insurance quote calculator

This calculator allows you to calculate your insurance premium for ‘Death only’ or ‘Death and Total and Permanent Disablement’ based on the premiums set by our insurer. Read more about the insurance options offered by LGS or contact Member Services on 1300 LGSUPER (1300 547 873).

Salary continuance quote calculator
